Nainu: Gunadule cosmotechnics to rethink the water-energy-food nexus in Abya Yala
In this presentation, Lenin Alfonso Morales shares the results of participatory research developed with the Gunadule indigenous community of Dubwala, in Gunayala (Panama). Based on the concept of Nainu—an agroforestry and cosmotechnic system that articulates agricultural, ecological, and spiritual practices—he discusses recent transformations in the island ecosystems of the Panamanian Caribbean and their impacts on the water-energy-food nexus.
Gunadule. Lenin Alfonso Morales is a doctoral student at the University of São Paulo (USP). His research articulates participatory methods in the Gunadule territory, focusing on the water-energy-food (WEF) nexus and transformations in the island ecosystems of Gunayala (Panama). He develops co-creation and knowledge democratization processes with local communities, addressing the challenges of climate change in vulnerable territories. His work contributes to understanding how community knowledge and collective decisions guide adaptation strategies and environmental governance.
