The book “Filming or Musicing - Essays on Shared Anthropology” by Rose Satiko published on the USP Open Books Portal

The book "Filming Music - Essays on Shared Anthropology," by Rose Satiko Gitirana Hikiji, a tenured professor in the Department of Anthropology and coordinator of LISA-USP, has just been published on the Open Books Portal of the University of São Paulo (USP), where it is available for download.

The book presents various musical endeavors in the city of São Paulo, which the author and her research partners approach with cameras and recorders in hand. These actions are led by young participants in a social music education project, by artists from the hip-hop and funk scene in Cidade Tiradentes, and by African musicians recently arrived in this megalopolis. Filming music involves transforming research into composition, which is achieved through collaborative processes. In this way, the author rehearses, in good company, Rouchi's dream of sharing anthropology. "Filming or Musicing - Essays on Shared Anthropology" is part of the ABCD Agenda 2030 Collection and aligns with the following SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals): SDG 10 - Reduction of Inequalities and SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities.

We invite you to delve into the universe of ethnographic writing, films, and sounds created by Rose Satiko throughout her career as a professor and researcher at USP. Access the book at: https://www.livrosabertos.abcd.usp.br/portaldelivrosUSP/catalog/view/1658/1510/5988
