On May 30, 2026, the book *De maloca em Maloca* was launched. It was written by Leandro Carneiro, a doctoral student in the PPGAS program and a student of José Guilherme Magnani. The event took place at Café Colombiano/La Libreria and facilitated a discussion among academics, health and social service professionals who work with the realities of the homeless population, as well as educators and activists from the National Movement for the Homeless Population (MNPR). Magnani’s moderation framed the topic through the lens of urban anthropology; the author discussed aspects of social interactions and conflicts on the streets, and the guests’ participation helped deepen the debate. The event featured simultaneous translation into Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), making it accessible to the deaf community.
Check out some photos below, and at this link, a video of the launch with a sign language translation!
